Well we’re a little behind on updates lately and apologise but we’re busy behind the scenes preparing a new look for the site so apologies if you see things slightly awry or something goes missing - won’t be for long!
Just scanning the Sunday papers as you do on a Sunday, lying horizontal on sofa due to overeating again at Sunday lunch and find ourselves discussing Billy Idol who’s in town at the end of the month for show at Brixton Academy and Manchester Apollo!
Now we don’t want to namedrop but we did work with him in the early 90’s and can still fall about laughing at the nonsense that went on and the time he on TV-AM with Lorraine Kelly… definately one for the book one day! But got to say he’s looking remarkably good for someone who cheated death just about every day and love the fact that he’s been wearing Diptyque eau de toilette for the last 20 years!
Not very rock n roll but then he secretly always was a posh boy…. gotta get tickets… it’s a must….

Now come on ladies. We ALL have bits we wish were tighter, smaller, firmer, flatter, rounder… well you get the picture. Actual research by NIVEA® has recently been done on the matter and the results show that 81%* of women in the UK are dissatisfied with their body shapes. My mother always said “NOW you can eat whatever you want. But you just wait till your mid 20’s”. I was rake thin when I was younger and now I find myself working out 4 times a week just to stay in shape…
Of course it’s a lie, my Gym card has a thin layer of dust on it from lack of use- but the intention is there. Diet and lifestyle play a HUGE part in the reasons why women’s body shapes start to change and once we reach the age of about 30, skin cells are producing fewer collagen fibres each year, resulting in the skin feeling less firm. Whether you’re body shape is an issue to you or not……
With summer looming, and the thought of us having to don a bikini & flash our wobbly bits, we’re more than willing to give NIVEA’s new My Silhouette! a go. Happy sculpting….xx
Well those lovely folk at Nivea have teamed up with us again to offer free samples of the new Nivea Silhouette Gel Cream!
To receive one of these 200ml tubes, please just drop us a line here at info@whatagirlneeds.co.uk with your name and address and then what we would really like you to do is to write a few lines on our What a Blog section to keep us updated on how you are going with it!
We’ll be doing it here at What a Girl Needs to and keep you updated over the next four weeks on our new Silhouette!
Look forward to reading your comments!!
Posh…. we’re all for your forward thinking but this time you have gone too far - and if we were you, we would fire your hair and makeup artists for allowing you to go out looking like that! Armani does not have to make you look 54 and you got it wrong! Simple as that! Why not wear a sassy little black number and shimmy down the red carpet rather than looking like Cruella de Vilon a bad day! All you needed was the dalmation and job done!!
So pick yourself up girl, put that one down to “everyone makes mistakes sometimes” and fall back into your Marc Jacobs immediately!
Now onto more important things like:
1. We’ve just purchased Fit Flops to try in the office (how long did it take us) and we love them - currently modelling the red and the silver here and look forward to a posture that will make even the best and rest of them look like they’re slouching! Check out Victoria Health for the best in choice!
2. Mozi candles from Australia -gonna try and get them for WAGN
3. Marks and Spencer’s yellowy/lime spotty bikini
4. Any espadrille wedges from Castaner
5. Echo scarves from What a Girl Needs - fab colours
6. Hot Pink nail varnish on your toes!
7. Calmia’s Accupressure Slippers - back at What a Girl Needs!
8. Any Anya Hindmarch Clutch!
9. H&M Raffia clutch bag - a steal and fab!
10. The best news - rumour hits us that Zinedine Zidane is due at QPR next season - that’s almost up there with The Special One! We can support two West London teams can’t we…..
Ok - the world has been flooded this week with fab pics of Gwyneth Paltrow! We even have a picture of her with her trainer up on the wall in the office in the vain hope that maybe just by looking at the pics of her looking so slim and trim, it might just rub off on us!
So our answer this week in order to achieve this has been to purchase the WII Fit! And we are loving it….. it’s quite brutal in that it weighs you, gives you your bmi and then later on tells you if you have put on any weight after your Sunday lunch!! Love that!!
But joking apart, it’s actually very cool and might actually be the thing that finally kick starts the Summer body!
But in case that all goes awry, which obviously there is high potential, here are a few of our other favourite things this week to keep you going:
1. Mario Badescu Almond and Honey Face Scrub
2. Bliss Tripe Oxygen Instant Energising Mask
3. Dove Pro Age Beauty Body Lotion
4. Waitrose Ginger and Lemon Green Tea

8. Elizabeth Arden 8 hour hand cream

9. Cos - when are they going to get a branch in Oxford…. Regent Street, although the newest and fabbest place to shop, is quite frankly a pain to get to….
10. Figs with Roquefort Cheese and oil and balsamic - easy and gorgeous…
Hello there all!
It’s been a while and could give a thousand reasons but not going to - just suffice to say that this blogging lark is now truly a daily event and we are going to use this forum as a reason to inform you all on the latest and greatest - whether it’s a bag, a face cream, a holiday, a new car, a lipstick …
So feel free to contact us if you want to get something plugged on here - feel free to add comments where-ever you wish - write reviews on whatever we are discussing on a daily basis - tell us if there’s something better out there, perhaps cheaper - who knows!
But in the life of Credit Crunch as we know it, let’s try to bring some joy into our lives and perhaps save money at the same time (that’s husband’s tip for the day - who needs La Prairie when you can have Aldi’s face cream at £1.89!) But be warned - only 2 pots allowed to be purchased at one time…. but it’s good….
So today’s hot tip is how not to spend £16 a day on detox food in a box - do it yourself! How hard must it be really… stock up on strawberries, blueberries, grains and seed and muesli for breakfast. Oh and a jumbo pot of Natural yoghurt. Lunches will be chicken salads so roast a chicken - that will keep you going for a couple of days, stock up on vegetables - broccoli, potatoes, asparagus (almost in season time!) and some frozen fish pieces from the fishmonger! That’s only got to set you back about £20 and will last at least 3/4 days if not more on the basics!
Come on girls - forget calling it Detox Pure buy it in a box and get it delivered - let’s call it Credit Crunchy Muesli….Credit Crunchy Carrot Soup and Credit Crunchy Herb Crust Cod with Mash…
Enjoy and bask in the knowledge that today you are doing your bit…
x
Hello all!
Well we are just back from fab weekend in Marrakech and have gone mad on everything!!! Saw some fab stuff and seriously thinking now about bringing some of those ideas back here!
So looking into all sorts of ways of importing some great accessories for the house etc - anyone with any tips on best ways to go about not getting completely fleeced all welcome!! One can only carry so many carpets back through customs!! Just joking - of course we wouldn’t do that but did see some beautiful rugs, throws, curtains and tableware to die for!! We think with the travel industry giving Morocco a big up at the moment, we should make the most of it!
Fly Easyjet - easy unless it’s foggy, then you end up in Casablanca like we did! But hey it’s an adventure and whilst all we saw was the interior of Casablanca airport, at least we can say we have been there!!
Another tip - don’t drive - nobody should drive there and the ones that do shouldn’t be allowed! Bonkers!!
Tour Guide - we had a fab one who we named Slim Shady - he definately wasn’t slim and probably more than Shady but hey, he made us laugh and took us to some really cool little places that we know we would never have found in a million years so can’t complain about that! But haggling is an art form that we only really got a taster for but feel we could turn into pretty mean hagglers given a little more time!
Anyway, watch out for a little taste of Morrocco appearing here soon…
More as we haggle…
